The sensors of digital cameras, but also color films, are sensitive not only to the visible spectrum of light, but also to the invisible ultraviolet component. The UV light can cause chromatic aberrations during photography, resulting in blurring. UV filters (more properly UV blocking filters) block ultraviolet light.
They are usually colorless or faintly yellowish in color. The use of UV blocking filters (especially on the coast or in high mountains) therefore effectively suppresses these effects. Incidentally, a correction of the exposure setting is not necessary with UV blocking filters.
The UV cut filter also serves to protect the front lens of the lens from mechanical damage, especially scratches. The Tamron UV filter is suitable for all lenses with 67 mm diameter.
